Part 3: Choosing a Microdosing Protocol

So you’ve decided to explore microdosing — now what?

One of the most common questions we hear is:
“How often should I microdose?”

The answer depends on your intention, your body, and your pace of life. Thankfully, there are a few tried-and-true protocols to guide your journey.

🧠 The Fadiman Protocol

Developed by psychologist Dr. James Fadiman, this is one of the most widely used microdosing schedules.

Schedule:

  • Dose on Day 1

  • No dose on Days 2 & 3

  • Repeat

This gives your body time to integrate the subtle effects before dosing again. Many people find this gentle, rhythmic approach supportive of creativity, clarity, and balance.

🌿 The Stamets Stack

Named after Paul Stamets, this protocol combines psilocybin with Lion’s Mane mushroom (for brain health) and niacin (to support absorption).

Schedule:

  • Dose for 4 consecutive days, then

  • Take 3 days off

  • Repeat

This method is often used by those seeking neuroregenerative support or deeper cognitive changes.

🌙 Intuitive Microdosing

For those with more experience, some choose to microdose only when called — on days of reflection, ceremony, or integration. This method requires deep self-awareness and journaling, but can be a soulful and respectful way to work with the medicine.

✨ Which One Is Right for You?

Ask yourself:

  • Am I seeking structure or flexibility?

  • Do I want to track my emotional, mental, or spiritual patterns?

  • Am I pairing this with other practices like therapy, meditation, or journaling?

Whatever you choose, consistency and intention matter more than perfection.

🌀 Your Protocol Is a Practice

This isn’t about dosing on autopilot. Each day is an opportunity to check in with your body, your spirit, and the medicine.

Remember: You are co-creating a relationship with the fungi. Honor it with presence, and it will meet you where you are.
